Three Chamber Music Concerts
to benefit Foodlink

A concert series spearheaded by Carol Rodland, associate professor of viola at the Eastman School of Music, will benefit the local food bank Foodlink. Titled “If Music Be the Food ….”, the concerts will be headlined by Eastman faculty and students as well as members of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and special guests.
The series kicks off at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, at St. Paul’s Church, 25 Westminster Rd. at the corner of East Ave., with a program of works by Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn. Performers include Eastman faculty Jan Opalach, bass-baritone, Steven Doane, cello, and Rodland; RPO violinist Patricia Sunwoo; former RPO associate concertmaster Corinne Stillwell; and Eastman students Heejung Nam, Kitty Cheung, Colin Stokes, Gregory Thompkins, and Felix Ungar.
Instead of paying an admission price, attendees are asked to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items to help stock the Foodlink shelves. Cash donations will also be accepted.
Future programs in the “If Music Be the Food . . .” benefit series will include Johannes Brahms’s Piano Quartet in G minor and Vaughan Williams’s Magnificat on Feb. 1, 2010, and J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concert No. 6 and Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence on May 4, 2010.
